You may prearrange your funeral and then, with the assistance of Chipman Funeral Home, prepay for these arrangements.  By doing this, you will relieve your loved ones and next-of-kin from making these choices during their difficult time.  You will also save your estate money as you pay today’s prices. Your funeral costs will not be adjusted as a result of inflation, as the funeral home has the benefit of the interest earned from the invested money which is used to offset inflation.

A contract, which has been pre-approved by the Department of Justice, setting out all the terms and conditions of your funeral will be prepared. You will be given a copy of the contract and should advise your next-of-kin of the contract, its location and the name of the funeral home.

As stated, all money paid to the funeral home is deposited into a trust account with the financial institution, T-D Canada Trust, as prescribed by the Prearranged Funeral Services Act for the Province of New Brunswick.  The money and any interest earned is not paid to the funeral home until after your death and completion of the funeral service as prearranged with the funeral director.

If you move and decide you no longer want to use the funeral home, you can contact the funeral director and cancel the contract, receiving all money you paid and any interest which was earned, or, you may have the funeral director transfer these funds to a funeral home of your choice in your new location.

The staff of Chipman Funeral Home would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding prearranging your funeral or pre-paid funeral arrangements.
