Its with deepest sympathy we announce the passing of Florence Gertrude Currie. Born in Douglas NB, on April 7th, 1932. She was the daughter of the late William Gordon and Annie (Allen) Currie. Her passing occurred on July 13, 2020 at the Oromocto Public Hospital.
Florence served many years with the Ladies Auxiliary branch 4 and served her community volunteering. Florence retired from the UNB Harriett Irving Library, as library assistant. After her retirement she went on to work a few part time jobs to fill her free time. She went on to care for other seniors to ensure the aging population was well treated in their later years in private home care.
Florence is survived by two sons, two grand daughters and one great-grandson, Allen Currie (Melanie) of Burtts Corner, NB, Garnet Currie (Paulette) of Lower Queensbury, NB, Caeley Currie of Burtts Corner, NB, Crishna McGivney (Todd) and Lucas McGivney. She is also survived by one sister Pauline (late Donald) Billings and several nieces and nephews. Her loving companion of 15 years her cat Amy. Special mentions go out to her friends she holds close Mary Legacy, Rollie King, Debbie McKay, Larry Bavis, Bessie and Eldrid, Leon, Stephen and all her friends from Bingo.
Florence would like to thank god for sending her an angel on earth. Her beloved granddaughter Crishna who love and cared for her. She loves her with all her heart.
Florence was predeceased by two daughters, Phyllis Marie in 1951 (infant) and Norma Jean Currie in 2018; her three brothers, Allan (Infant), Beverly (Bessie Bonnar), Lyle (Glena Randall); three sisters, Lila Mae (Eugene) Buckley, Margurite Bonnar, Mary (Edward) Morehouse and the father her children Wendall Currie.
There will not be an open visitation or ceremony at Florence’s request. There will be an internment with immediate family only where she will be laid to rest with her husband and Daughter at the Mactaquac Cemetery. Florence has requested if you wish to donate in her memory that donations should be made to the Fredericton SPCA or a non-profit at the discretion of the donor.
