DUFFY, Jon M. – Chipman, NB

It is with great sadness that the family of Jon Matthew Duffy announce his passing at Hospice House Fredericton on April 17, 2019 at the age of 81. Jon was born in Chipman, NB on November 8, 1937 son of the late Frank and Geraldine (Schofield) Duffy.

Jon was known for his kindness and he put everyone’s needs ahead of his own right to the end. He loved the woods and spent much of his life in nature – working, fishing and hunting. He was happiest spending time with his family and friends, especially at the camp at Big Forks. God has gathered another angel.

Jon is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Muriel; his son Eric (Karen) and grandson Gregory (Germain), who were his pride and joy; sisters, Mary (Kevin) and Janyce (Stan); brother, Robert (Linda); Muriel’s children, Cheryl (Richard Daye), Michael (Jean) Lemon, Wendy (Allan Dickie) and Trudy (Gene Blacquier); step-daughter, Lori Lynn; brother-in-law, Linwood Stevens; many nieces, nephews and many great friends.  Predeceased by his first wife, Judy; his parents and brother George.

Family will receive comfort at the Chipman Funeral Home on Sunday, April 21, 2019 from 3 – 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the service in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Jon, to Hospice House or the Chipman Library would be greatly appreciated by his family.

Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home Ltd. & Crematorium. (339-6612). Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfueralhome.ca

To Muriel and Family….Jon held a special place in our hearts! A kind man who insisted on walking me home after babysitting. I never appreciated that until I was old enough to realize he wanted to make sure I got home safe. Bryant worked with Jon in the woods and many times they would reminisce about the “good old days”.
A good man who will be remembered kindly.
