Shirley was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her positive attitude and unique wit were contagious and were appreciated by all who crossed her path. Shirley’s strong faith in God was manifested in her life from a very young age. She was an encourager of many, even when, due to health concerns, she could have needed encouragement. Shirley was loved by all of those who had the privilege to know her. She made many friends along life’s way and was a treasured confidant, particularly in her capacity as a pastor’s wife during the years in which she and Reg served in church ministry. In her youth, Shirley attended the New Brunswick Teachers’ College in Fredericton and pursued a career in education; following her passion, she served in various capacities in educating children. Shirley loved people, and shared that love in caring for both the elderly and children. Her hobbies included bowling and mini-golf, and she was a force to be reckoned with in a game of Yahtzee. She loved any word game in which she could test her skill against anyone who was brave enough to challenge her.
Shirley’s family, friends, and neighbours will be gathering for Visitation at the Mill Cove Church of God, Mill Cove, NB, on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019, at 2:00 pm at the Mill Cove Church of God with Rev. Terry Messer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
