KEDDY, Dorothy J. – Gagetown, NB

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dorothy Jean, nee Parker, announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, May 9, 2020. Dot was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born January 31, 1925 in Grafton, Nova Scotia, she was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Francis, sister Jenny, and brothers Fred, Henry and Harry. Dot would move to Berwick, NS., where she later met and married the late Warren Keddy. Sadly, Dot was predeceased by her two sons, Max and Ronnie.

Dot is survived by her two daughters-in-law, Sandra (Ron) of Haneytown, NB, and VanEssa Roberts (Max) of Windsor, NS. Dot was thrilled to see her grandchildren marry and have children of their own. She shared a love of music with granddaughter Karla, her husband Larry Nicholson and their son Shane, of Halifax, NS. Dot enjoyed her almost daily visits with grandson Darren, his wife Hollie and their children, Kaitlyn, Brysen and Bella, of Lincoln, NB. Dot had a very special bond with her youngest granddaughter Kara Lee, her husband Wayne Iyoupe, and their children, Jayden and Landon. Dot looked forward to their visits from Edmonton, AB.

Nine years ago, Dot moved to Haneytown, NB., to live with Ronnie and Sandra. The Davidson’s, Sandra’s family, instantly became Dot’s family and together they shared many great times. Our sincerest thanks to Anne Davidson and Don Hodgin, Kim and Bill Donovan, Whit and Brenda Davidson, Stephanie and Tim Elliott and Joanne (John) Davidson. Dot is fondly remembered by nephew Donald and Judy Parker, Margaret (Gary) Parker and Shawna Kinney, along with several nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia.

Dot loved to laugh and enjoyed family dinners; watching the many backyard washer toss games; her tv game shows; and cheering on her beloved Montreal Canadian’s. Truly a happy person, Dot always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed her country music and loved to sit on the deck during the summer evenings and visit with neighbours Kim and Dianne along with Sandra’s mom Anne and Don.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Sandra for the exceptional care, kindness and love she gave to Dot during the past nine years. Being in New Brunswick gave Dot much joy, living out her ninety-five years to its fullest, surrounded by her loving family.

Last year Dot moved to the Orchard View Long Term Care Home in Gagetown, NB., where she received excellent care. The family appreciates the kind words from staff who have said how much they will miss Dot’s laughter and her smile. The tender care and compassion shown to Dot, and our family, during her final days in Orchard View, is greatly appreciated.

At her request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dot’s life will be held at a later date when the family can all be together. Donations may be made in Dot’s memory to the Orchard View Foundation Inc., 2230 Route 102, Gagetown, New Brunswick, E5M 1J6, or a charity of your choice.

Sandra please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of Dorothy. Paul and I only knew her for a short time while she was at the Duffie unit but she had made a lasting impression on us. Her laugh was infectious and her personality was always upbeat and positive. Her kindness to our Mom, who was also a Dot, was a great comfort to her and us and they became friends while she was there. We spent a few evenings in the corner with all the ladies having a few laughs along with Kim, Anne & Don which meant a… Read more »
