The passing of Melvin Brown of White’s Cove occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 3, 2019 with his family by his side. Born in Minto, he was the son of the late Hayward and Clara (Barton) Brown. Melvin met his future wife, Tina, the love of his life with whom he shared the next thirty-six years. They worked together at the Bethel Nursing Home in Mill Cove.
Together, they were blessed with three children: Westley (Adrianne) and their children Gabe and Jaden, Shaun (Kristen) and their children Nick, Kristina and Casey, Sammie Black (Denver) and their children Caleb, Brison and Jacob; five sisters, Dorothy Ryder (Wayne) of Chipman, Linda Brown of Cumberland Bay, Valerie Howe of Sussex, Darlene Bertin of Cumberland Bay and Della Ryder (Brian) of Waterborough; one brother Harold of Springfield; nieces and nephews. Melvin also had chosen family: two sisters-in-law, Linda Martin (John) and Ruth Melanson (Bill) along with three nieces and one nephew; chosen children: Tina Coughlan (Jason) and their children Mariah (Patrick), Dalyce and Ashlee; Johnny Martin (who predeceased him in 2017, Gone but not forgotten), Christopher Martin (Dianna MacDonald) and Jessie Foster and her children Kayleigh and Alyvia.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Kenneth, one brother-in-law Paul Howe and by one chosen son, Johnny Martin
A celebration of Melvin’s Life will be held at the Chipman Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Steven Ferris officiating. For those who wish, donations to the Cardiac Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
